Toys R Us UK will close down its 75 remaining stores in just under a fortnight, the retailer's administrator has confirmed.
It will mean the loss of 2,054 jobs.
As first reported by Sky News, the UK's largest toy retailer collapsed into administration in February, after a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) had kept it afloat over a weak Christmas shopping period.
Toys R Us UK searched in vain for a buyer in January, as it faced a £15m VAT bill.
The administrator Moorfields then stepped in and began selling off the retailer's stock at knockdown prices.
After failing to find a buyer, Moorfields said in March that it would be necessary to close all of Toys R Us' 106 stores, and immediately made 67 staff at the chain's Maidenhead head office redundant.
At the time, insiders said the administration of Toys R Us UK would leave the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) facing a bill of about £37m, as it absorbed the pension liabilities of Britain's biggest toy retailer.
Simon Thomas, joint administrator at Moorfields, said: "We are grateful for the hard work of everybody at Toys R Us during this extremely difficult and challenging time.
"We are working closely with the 2,000 employees affected by the closures to ensure they receive the support they need for redundancy and other compensatory payments."
Mr Thomas added: "The stores across the county will be open as usual until the last day of trading and we would encourage shoppers to make the most of the great deals on offer.
"Extended discounts of up to 70% are in place from today and offers are available on some of our best-known brands."
Toys R Us was one of a number of high-profile retail casualties in the first quarter of 2018.

Electronics retailer Maplin went into administration on the same day, putting a further 2,500 retail jobs in jeopardy.
The latest Toys R Us announcement comes on the same day as Carpetright said it will to close 92 stores and cut 300 jobs.
In March fashion chain New Look said it would shut 60 stores and cut up to 980 jobs, as part of its restructuring plans.
To avoid a similar fate to Toys R Us, baby clothing retailer Mothercare has been looking to reduce the total number of UK stores to between 80 and 100 from 143.
High street retailers such as Toys R Us have been battling against a combination of rising costs and a fall in consumer confidence.
